Argan oil cares for skin
The dramatic effects of argan oil on the skin is something that is world renowned, tested and proven. Argan oil can often be found as an ingredient in many popular, expensive brands, however it is argan oil in its pure form that demonstrates the most outstanding results. Many beauty products on the market contain hidden hazards and their chemicals can, in themselves, breed free radicals which attack the cells and proteins of the skin, resulting in inflammation, itchiness, dryness and an increase in the signs of ageing.
Argan oil is so effective in healing, moisturising and repairing the skin cells due to its exceptionally high vitamin E and vitamin A content. Vitamin E is one of the most efficient chain-breaking antioxidants available. Due to this vitamin E and A content, along with its unsaturated fatty acids, argan oil heals and protects dry skin, inflamed skin, helps acne, offers UV protection as well as reducing the appearance of scars, stretch marks and wrinkles.
Pure argan oil being a completely natural substance, contains no additives, no added chemicals or preservatives.
The oil has been used by Moroccan woman for centuries demonstrating that its use has proved not only safe, but extraordinarily beneficial to our bodies externally and internally.
This is great news for our skin as we can now use an anti ageing product that is 100% natural and that’s a big step away from chemical laden cosmetics. The reason argan oil is so effective as an anti-ageing product is due to its complex blend of essential fatty acids and nutrients. As we get older our skin begins to lose it’s elasticity which is mainly caused by a loss of collagen. Argan oil improves this elasticity as the high vitamin E content, saponins and proteins within it, help in increasing the amount of collagen the skin produces and increasing the regenerative rate of healthy skin cells.
After cleansing morning and night, gently massage argan oil into your face and neck in a circular motion. Argan oil is quickly absorbed into your skin if used sparingly so there's no need to worry about greasiness or residue. The oil is gentle and safe to use under the eyes, but do take care not to apply too much pressure in this area.
Stretch marks & scars
Argan oil is exceptional at both reducing the appearance of stretch marks and scars as well as preventing them forming.
Because of the growth and weight changes in pregnancy, skin is stretched and our body finds it difficult to keep up with the rapid changes leading to tears in the skin. Whether or not individuals get stretch marks or not depends on the skin type and how elastic it is. Stretch marks are partly caused by a lack of collagen and elastin in the skin which are the bodies support structure, so without the right amount of these proteins, it is hard for the body to make up its second layer of skin. (Dermis). This ‘second layer of skin’ is the part that, amongst other things, produces sebum.
Argan oil can help to regulate this sebum so that the skin does not dry out so easily, keeping it supple and hydrated.
Another very important factor in why argan oil boosts elastically and stimulates collagen production, is due to its high Vitamin E content. Vitamin E is needed for the maintenance of normal body metabolism and in the protection and healing of body tissues and skin. Vitamin E is most beneficial as an antioxidant in preserving the health of skin tissue and membranes. As argan oil is packed full of vitamin E, it is highly effective in reducing the visibility and formation of stretch marks.
For the same reasons that it is used for stretch marks, argan oil is also used to help in the recovery of scars. After wounds are healed, scar tissue is often a problem men and women find hard to eliminate, so it’s assuring to know that this oil can radically help by influencing the production of collagen and healing the skin through its anti inflammatory properties.
Application to stretch marks & scars
It is best to use argan oil twice a day, everyday to stop stretch marks occurring. Start to use the oil as soon as you find out about your pregnancy, as it’s always better to prevent stretch marks instead of trying to cure them afterwards. Dispense the argan oil into the palm of your hand and in gentle upward motions, rub the oil into the areas you specifically want targeted.
Shaving & waxing rashes
The reason we all shave and wax is to have that desired smooth finish, that is soft to the touch. Unfortunately for most of us, this look and feel is hard to achieve as we are often faced with the uncomfortable burn, itchiness and ever occurring skin rash that is left behind from shaving. Argan oil contains polyphenols and sterols which both detoxify the skin and diminish redness and irritation. The oil's anti inflammatory nutrients also protect and soothe, offering the best protection against itchy, blotchy skin.
Shaving and waxing application
Massage a small amount of oil onto clean skin before shaving and with a clean blade, shave the required area. After shaving wash the area with lukewarm water and pat dry. After you have shaved, apply the oil again, massaging gently into the skin. The oil is light and non greasy, so you won’t have to wait long until it is fully absorbed into the skin.
Sunburn & mild burns
Just as argan oil is effective in diminishing the effect of shaving burns and rashes, it also soothes and repairs sun damaged skin. This is simply down to the anti inflammatory properties and the rich Vitamin E and A content within it. Damage to the skin after sunburn or superficial burns does require treatment to minimise lasting effects, promote healing and minimise the chance of scarring. Vitamin E is the go to treatment for any superficial burning and argan oil is packed full of it. Another vitamin present in argan oil, that is extremely beneficial in the repair and soothing of burnt skin is Vitamin A and when used in combination with vitamin E, has scientifically proven healing results for burns and supporting healing skin regeneration. Treating your skin with argan oil will vastly decrease the healing time on skin and help to ease the pain. An additional benefit is that it largely decreases any chances of peeling and many have praised its ability to prolong and sustain their suntan.
Application for sunburn & mild burns
Lightly and gently, cover all sunburned or burnt areas of skin with argan oil (cooling the argan oil briefly before application will help soothe the burn). Do this as soon as you feel any burning of the skin. It is beneficial to slightly dampen your skin before applying the oil, as this helps with the absorption. Repeat this process as many times as necessary until your burns begin to ease and fade.
We only recommend argan oil for the treatment of 1st degree burns or mild burns. Any other serious burning, should be treated at your hospital.
